As UK Policing’s HeForShe Programme Manager, Brooke works closely with Chief Officer teams and the United Nations to ensure UK policing meets its commitment to gender equality; removing workplace barriers and creating a gender equal workforce to better serve its communities.
In 2001, Brooke joined Sussex Police as an Interview and Statement Transcriber, working on a variety of high-profile cases before securing a role as the Chief Superintendent’s Personal Assistant, working with the Command Team, and assisting the strategic Inspector on several policing projects.
After several years at Sussex Police, Brooke returned to the private sector in 2011 to complete her chartered underwriting qualification and work as the Commercial Account Manager for a broker working throughout Southeast England with various London based Insurance Underwriters and taxi companies, managing risk, and ensuring the needs of the customers and the business were met.
In 2016, Brooke returned to Sussex Police recognising that she would only find job satisfaction in a role that was focused on serving the public. Brooke initially returned as a secretary however was quickly selected for the role of Project Officer on a digital transformation team. Brooke worked with the Command Team, as well as external consultants and internal departments to bring about positive change, managing several staff workshops and difficult discussions. During this period, Brooke completed the Prince2 project management qualification.
In 2018, Brooke was successful in obtaining the role of Secretarial Team Leader where she managed 18 members of staff and was instrumental in implementing new processes and structures. During this period, Brooke completed a Business Management NVQ3.
In 2020, Brooke became the HeForShe Programme Manager for UK Policing. Within this role, Brooke has launched 3 annual gender equality reports, attended the United Nations HeForShe Summit in New York City in September 2022 and been a contributor within the UN run IMPACT Labs as the only public sector employer in attendance. Since undertaking this role, Brooke has a received a Chief Constable Commendation for her work recently was nominated for a British Association of Women in Police Award.
