Home Team Academy

Poon Ngee is the Director for the Centre for Home Team Simulation, Home Team Academy.  He drives the use of simulation for incident management training in the Home Team, particularly for joint training exercises for frontline law enforcement agencies such as the Singapore Police Force, Singapore Civil Defence Force, Immigration and Checkpoint Authority, Singapore Prison Service and Central Narcotics Bureau.

Prior to this, Poon Ngee was a Superintendent of Police and served in the Singapore Police Force for about 18 years. He had vast experience and held several operational positions such as Commanding Officers and Head of Operations and Training. He was also the Director at a security and technology start-up that provides technological solutions in the security sector before joining Home Team Academy in 2016, to set up the Home Team Simulation System (HTS2), the first of its kind to deploy both ‘Live’ and ‘Virtual’ simulation that simulates complex real-life scenarios to train officers in making command and operational decisions during an incident.  His vision in the use of simulation to train decision making was globally recognised when the system won the international GovInsider Innovation Award and the Home Team Achievement Award in 2019.

For his work, Poon Ngee is recognised by industry partners when he was invited to speak at various conferences and as panel member such as Military Training and Simulation Asia (MILSIM) 2019; The International Forum for the Simulation Training and Education Community (ITEC) 2019; and as distinguished speaker at the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency Virtual Simulation Seminar in Stockholm, Sweden.

Poon Ngee holds a degree in Engineering from the National University of Singapore and a Master in Business Administration from the University of South Australia.
