Vince Hawkes joined the IACP on January 28, 2019 as Director, Global Policing in the Office of the Executive Director. He is responsible for advancing the policing profession globally - through advocacy, research, outreach, and education.

Prior to joining the IACP, he served as Commissioner, Ontario Provincial Police, located in Orillia Ontario. Ontario Provincial Police is of one of North America’s largest deployed police services comprised of approximately 6,200 uniform members, 2,800 civilian employees and 850 auxiliary members. Vince was responsible for the strategic vision and organizational priorities linked to the provincial government’s policing mandate and the Police Services Act. He also oversaw frontline policing and policing coordination at the local, provincial, national, and international committee levels.

In addition, he served on the Board of Directors for the International Association of Chiefs of Police, the State & Provincial Executive Committee (IACP Division). He also a member of the Board of Directors for both the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police and the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police.

Vince is a graduate of both the University of Ottawa with a Baccalaureate in Science and the University of Toronto Rotman School of Management, Police Leadership Program and was awarded an Honorary Doctorate from Nipissing University. He is also a graduate of the FBI’s National Executive Institute and the International Leadership in Counter Terrorism program. In 2016, Vince Hawkes was advanced to the level of Commander in the Order of Merit of the Police Force, a fellowship of honour that recognizes exemplary police service in Canada. He is thrilled with the opportunity to assist The IACP with expanding their global reach.
